Dancing Pines Quilt Co.

The Backstory

Hello, I'm Wendy, the quilter behind Dancing Pines.  I live on the prairies of North Dakota in a little house surrounded by tall pine trees that are forever set into motion by the strong Northerly winds. Hence, the name - Dancing Pines Quilt Co.  :)

The first quilt I ever made was for my daughter's 3rd birthday in 1995. It was a Precious Moments print with matching flannel on the back. I had no idea how to bind it and did the best I could, ha! I did not sew or tie the layers together and over the years, the batting bunched up and it was a mess!  Yet my daughter loved that quilt and used it until it was literally in shreds.  It was very meaningful to the both of us when, just a couple of years ago, I salvaged cutouts from the Precious Moments quilt and appliqued them onto whole cloth quilts for HER daughters, my granddaughters. :) See, it does make sense to hold onto that scrap fabric, LOL!

My interest in quilting was reignited in 2016, right before I turned 50. In 2019, I bought my first longarm machine and the rest is history.  I recently quilted my 50th quilt!  My favorite thing about quilting is a great finish; creating a quilt is very much like running a 5k - and depending on the quilt, sometimes it's a marathon.  I love to help my clients finish well! It brings me joy to be a part of the creative process with other quilters.  I've found the quilting community to be warm and supportive of one another, and I'm thankful to be part of it.

I've been married to Mike for nearly 35 years and we've been blessed with 9 kids; two of our kiddos joined us through the miracle of international adoption. When I'm not at work in my quilting studio, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking big meals, and listening to Classic Books from the 1800s on Audible.

Please take a look around my website to see my work, rates, and designs. If you have any questions, please contact me. I would love to work with you!

Blessings, Wendy :)
